Worthwhile excursion destinations in Carinthia
The special attraction of the Eschenhof is getting to know the country and its people. Short distances allow you to dive deep into the local culture, history and nature. With the Kärnten Card, you have access to over 100 excursion destinations in Carinthia with free admission every day. From the Nockalm Road to Hochosterwitz Castle: We have put together some of the most exciting excursions in Carinthia for you here.
The two local thermal baths are among Bad Kleinkirchheim's number 1 excursion destinations. They invite you to immerse yourself in the healing waters that flow from the interior of the Nockberge mountains. The thermal Roman baths are always a hit with a huge variety of saunas, while the Therme St. Kathrein is wonderful for families. Especially as it has the longest water slide in Carinthia.
The Granatium in Radenthein is a family-friendly museum. The exhibition and the mystical gallery lead to the open-air area, where young and old miners can dig their own garnet stones out of the mountain. With the Kärnten Card you get a 20% discount on the entrance fee.
With a gentle incline, the panoramic road meanders up and down in 52 hairpin bends and numerous curves between the "Nock'n". There are always changing views, for example of the largest spruce, stone pine and larch population in the Eastern Alps, or of the round green peaks of the Nockberge mountains. Travel on the Nockalm Road is free with your Kärnten Card.
Lake Millstätter See is not only the deepest but also one of the warmest bathing lakes in Carinthia. It is also beautiful for hiking and has plenty of culture to offer with the venerable Millstatt Abbey and its associated church. Boat trips are free with your Kärnten Card. With a stay of 5 nights at the Eschenhof, you also get free entry to the lido Sittlinger in Döbriach.
...then this is just the highlight for you! In the Nockberge mountains, the only Heidi-Alm in the world extends over three hectares. Experience the story of Heidi at the children's adventure park with over 100 figures. On the adventure trail through the wild and romantic stone pine forest, it becomes immediately clear why Heidi and her friends feel so at home on the alpine pastures. Admission is free with your Kärnten Card.
At 100 metres, the Pyramidenkogel on Lake Wörthersee is the highest wooden viewing tower in the world. Admission is free with your Kärnten Card. If you want to be adventurous, you can come back down to Earth by Flying Fox or by the highest enclosed slide in Europe.
The interesting castle museum and the extraordinary complex of the Hochosterwitz castle with the 14 castle gates are a true rarity. Our recommendation: Float up on the inclined railway from the first gate, dine with medieval flair in the castle restaurant and take a detour to Lake Längsee.
In the wildlife park in Feld am See you will encounter over 30 different species of wild animals. In the Grizzly World, animals from the Canadian wilderness and a bear cave await. The African Adventure World will delight you with its leopard cave and original African carvings. And at the Fish Museum, you can marvel at an aquarium with native fish as well as lake and river fish specimens. Admission is free with your Kärnten Card.
